Safavieh Rugs “Style Spotted” at High Point Market Design Innovation and Trend-right Colors Cited

and Soumak flat weave in metallic yarn.

HIGH POINT –Two Safavieh area rugs were selected by High Point Market Style Spotters as favorite products during the October 2012 home furnishings market, October 13-18.  Lisa Mende, principal of Lisa Mende Design chose an ikat rug from Safavieh’s sustainable hemp collection by Thom Filicia, and Janel Laban, executive editor of Apartment Therapy singled out a new Santa Fe rug introduced at Market.

“We are honored to have our designs validated by top home fashion trendsetters; this distinction is especially significant when you consider that of the 167 products selected by the Style Spotters this Market, only five were area rugs,” said Safavieh principal Arash Yaraghi.

“This promotion by High Point Market is wonderful exposure for exhibitors like Safavieh, and also for the area rug category as a catalyst for color and pattern trends.  As the Style Spotters program continues each season, we hope to see the percentage of rugs grow in proportion to their vital role in interior design,” Yaraghi explained.

Named a Style Spotter after winning the High Point Market's Olioboard contest this summer, Lisa Mende is known creating expressive interiors with stylish accessories.  A respected design blogger, Mende noted on her Pinterest board that she chose Thom Filicia's Nottingham rug for its trendsetting colors of red, blue, yellow and aqua. “This hand knotted beauty would be great most anywhere,” she said.

Of the Santa Fe rug, Janel Laban of Apartment Therapy said, “Brick red plush pile meets subtly metallic silver flat weave: Beautiful unique rug from Safavieh.”  The rug combines a Peshawar weave wool pile with a Soumak flat weave in metallic yarn.

Chosen for their ability to see ahead of the curve in home fashion trends, the nine interior designers and bloggers asked by the Market to walk the show capturing images of their favorite looks and on-trend products. The Style Spotters curated their choices on Pinterest, a website that lets users organize and share photos on virtual pin boards. Each photo posted lists the exhibitor’s name and showroom number.

The fall roster of Style Spotters also included:
• Traci Zeller, Traci Zeller’s Blog
• Gretchen Aubuchon, Fashion + Decor
• Lori Dennis, DesignCamp.com
• Julia Buckingham Edelmann, Material Girls
• Cassandra LaValle, Coco + Kelley
• Stacy Naquin, Stacy Naquin blog

More HOME Product than Ever in January at the Nation’s Most Comprehensive Market

ATLANTA, GA  —The nation’s single-largest collection of furniture and home furnishings product anchors 2013’s first global buying event January 9-16 (Temporaries: Jan. 11-15; Area Rug: Jan. 10-13) at AmericasMart® and the Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market® and the Atlanta International Area Rug Market® featuring the National Oriental Rug Show.

Encompassing 15 floors of permanent showrooms—and enhanced by a large and growing temporary home furnishings product mix—the HOME center at AmericasMart continues to inspire retailers and designers with an unmatched array of high-end, design-driven home furnishings, home accessories, fine linens and textiles, wall decor, lighting, holiday and floral decor and the world’s largest collection of area rugs.  With the most complete product collections, the HOME building is the preferred destination for retailers to discover all the product, all in one place.

New for January 2013, furniture and rug manufacturer Four Hands moves to a 12,000-square-foot showroom on Floor 4 as part of an evolution to create an integrated lifestyle HOME buying experience reflective of the way consumers shop and live.  As part of the same integration, Surya moves its collection of area rugs and distinctive home decor to Floor 11. Both moves enrich the overall collection in Building 1, reinforcing the position as the leading collection of the finest rug, furniture and accessories product from around the world.

January continues as a touchstone market for the Holiday & Floral/Home Decor center on Floors 16-20 of Building 1. These five floors are the top destination in the industry for manufacturers and designers to launch innovative ideas, fresh lines and new product for the year. The Artisan Showcase offers a platform for retailers to see the old-world handcraftsmanship intrinsic in valued holiday products.

Supporting the permanent HOME showrooms are 10 home categories in the Market Temporaries—several of which are housed in multiple floors of the HOME building (Floors 1, 2 and 7). These categories cover home furnishings and accessories to fine linens including HD Home, a juried collection of exclusive high-design home furnishings and decor showcased in spectacular vignette settings in the Center Hall of Floor 1.

The January Market will once again feature some of the industry’s most celebrated tastemakers and renowned designers. These special guests will shine the spotlight on the HOME center to educate, entertain and excite retailers. Stacey Bewkes, author of the wildly popular Quintessence Blog, discusses how she uses online sources to develop her style. Nathan Turner, of Bravo’s “Million Dollar Decorators,” explores a traditional American style that involves little effort and produces high design. And interior design icon Stan Topol brings his signature style to Floor 14 of Building 1 with a custom room installation capturing the essence of his 2012 Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Decorators Show House room created in the landmark residence Knollwood, where his living room used furniture and accessories sourced from AmericasMart showrooms.

With a robust mix of soft goods, case goods, accessories, fine linens and area rugs, incorporated into an inclusive, unique collection, AmericasMart offers an experience that’s both individual and integrated unlike any other.

SURFACES and Las Vegas Market Dates to Coincide in 2013 and 2014

Surfaces and Las Vegas Markets

DALLAS, TX and Las Vegas, NV – SURFACES and Las Vegas Market are excited to announce they are forming an extended strategic partnership to co-locate their events for 2013 and 2014 in order to provide their attendees an enhanced product sourcing, educational and networking experience.

SURFACES 2013, being held at Mandalay Bay Convention Center January 28 – 31, serves as the industry’s introduction of the newest product styles and selections that consumers will be demanding for the coming year. Every floor covering product, tool and technology will be featured on the show floor with daily complementary installation demonstrations where attendees can see these products in action.

Las Vegas Market, being held January 28 – February 1 at World Market Center Las Vegas campus, is an international home furnishings showcase that combines style, inspiration and productivity like no other market. Retailers and designers can shop product offerings from trend-setters in all home furnishings categories—from furniture and mattress to home decor and gift. A ‘total marketplace’ for today’s home furnishings professionals, Las Vegas Market features 1,000 world-class manufacturers and fresh new resources as well as educational, networking and hospitality events all week long.

“We are very excited about the strategic partnership and the benefits that it brings to our attendees” commented Dana Teague, Group Director, SURFACES “Our dates coincided in 2011 and it proved to be an enormous success for both events. Due to scheduling conflicts in 2012 our dates were one week apart and we were met with disappointment from our attendees; therefore both parties agreed that it was in the best interest of our events to hold our dates concurrently and give our customers a convenient, one-stop-shopping opportunity, saving them both time and money.

In addition, the coinciding dates will give thousands of buyers the opportunity to engage in a wider range of education and networking events. Registration benefits will be available for those attendees who wish to participate in both events and a complimentary shuttle service will be provided between each venue.

“We are thrilled to partner with SURFACES again for the benefit of buyers and exhibitors at both venues. The synergies of our co-location add value to both of our customer bases—allowing manufacturers exposure to new distribution channels,” said Dorothy Belshaw, President of Gift + Home Decor at International Market Centers. “And for retailers and designers looking for new and unique resources, SURFACES offers great depth in the floor coverings space while Las Vegas Market delivers a tremendous breadth of new products in furnishings, home decor and giftware. We’ve worked to make access to both events convenient and easy for buyers.”

As part of on-going efforts to attract interior designers and due to the popularity of the program in 2012, SURFACES has expanded the Designer Day program to two days. The two days, January 29 and January 30, will be filled with innovative products, tours and education. This all-day educational event is a must-attend for interior designers looking to get the latest trends and the newest products available for their clients.

AMS Imports Area Rugs Launches Anta Scottish Tartans at High Point

ANTACawdorAMS

Cawdor is one of the new ANTA Scottish Tartans to be introduced in High Point

AMHERST, MA – AMS Imports Area Rugs will be launching a brand new collection of Scottish Tartans at High Point Market this month. AMS Imports is partnering with ANTA, a Scottish textiles and ceramics company founded by Annie and Lachlan Stewart. The company is located on Scotland’s northeast coast. This new collection will feature area rugs, fabrics, and throws incorporating the traditional Scottish plaid pattern.

Scotland, in the heart of the United Kingdom, may be known for the Loch Ness Monster, traditional Scottish kilts, and skilled bagpipe players, but this collection, staying true to its heritage, incorporates tartan patterns in unique, gorgeous designs. “We are always looking to introduce the newest designs to the American market,” says Anne Schewe, President and Founder of AMS Imports Area Rugs, “this type of plaid design being made in Scotland is unlike anything we have offered before. We hope home decorators and designers will enjoy these unique patterns as much as we do.”

ANTA carpets and area rugs are similar to the original flat weaves manufactured in Scotland in the eighteenth century. The pure wool tartan carpet was developed in 1985 when ANTA was commissioned to replace an original stair carpet in Inverness that had worn out after 55 years. Ever since, ANTA has been utilizing the finest craftsmanship and natural materials to make pure wool flat weaves in the Scottish Highlands. The rugs are made from British sheep wool and coated with Teflon to provide a level of stain resistance. The Teflon also makes the rugs easier to clean. The carpets are backed with non-slip wool felt and bound with pure wool binding. There is a wide range of traditional and contemporary designs. ANTA rugs are available in 24 designs in both standard and custom sizes.

Uist, shown above, is one of the many new designs available.

ANTA throws are woven in Scotland from the softest lamb’s wool. Like all ANTA fabrics, the yarn is dyed before it is woven to ensure the colors are achieved consistently. The natural hues of the fabrics are inspired by the Scottish landscape. These throws make perfect blankets, bed coverings, or curtains.

The ANTA Collection operates under the SAVE mission (Sustainable, Affordable, Vernacular, Ecological). AMS Imports, Inc. specializes in bringing unique area rugs, tapestries, pillows, and other home accessories to the American Market. AMS has been a pioneer since 1980 searching the globe for innovative and different products to introduce to designers, consumers, and retailers in the United States. AMS Imports has collections from all over the world including Jordan, Peru, Egypt, India, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Columbia, and the US.

AMS Imports, Inc. will be showing the ANTA Collection Oct. 13-18 at:

Mambasa, Noor and the Ouray Collections.

DALLAS, TX—Feizy Rugs will be the destination for the latest in on-trend style and valuable market incentives at October’s High Point International Home Furnishings Market.  The company plans to celebrate with an Oktoberfest-themed party Tuesday evening, Oct. 16 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.

Hand knotted in pure bamboo silk, the simple African-inspired patterns of the Mambasa Collection are the newest addition to the Feizy Fine Collections.  Clean, contemporary designs possess a subtle shimmer and a soft hand, lending light to modern and transitional settings.

The Noor Collection blends placid tones and clean, modern designs to create serene settings.  Tibetan hand knotted in a pile of 100% art silk, these pieces possess a soft hand and a luminous sheen that lends elegance and shimmer to any room.

One new design has also been added to the Ouray Collection.  Painstakingly hand knotted in a 100% silk pile, these incredibly detailed and radiant pieces are the ultimate in luxury.

One new colorway, black/white, has been added to the acclaimed Bamboo Lattice Collection.  Stalks of bamboo are interlaced to form a screen pattern, hand knotted in the finest wool and art silk. The plush hand characteristic of Tibetan knotted pieces is enhanced with a special wash to create an even softer pile.

Multiple additions have also been made to the Feizy Home Collection.

Designs shown above are from the Portico, Moneta and Daria Collections.

The Portico Collection is a grouping of hand carved tufted transitional and contemporary designs.  Taking inspiration from both architectural elements and nature, these pieces blend the two seamlessly with delightful results.  A palette of subdued neutral colors creates a tranquil foundation and makes decorating a snap.

The casual charm of the Moneta Collection combines the ease of printed jute with on-trend designs and palettes.  Hand loomed and backed in canvas to add body to each piece, transitional ikat, medallion, and floral patterns impart a relaxed style.

Intricately detailed traditional styling and on-trend colors have made the Daria Collection an instant classic.  Power loomed of polypropylene in an ultra-dense and exquisitely plush quality, each design features meticulously precise patterns that seem to leap off each piece.

Subtle shades of color play elegantly against each other in the Luna Collection, a medley of tone-inspired contemporary pieces. Black, light gray, purple and teal colorways will make their High Point debut.  Subtle color gradations recreate the moon's effect, giving each seemingly simple rug a life of its own.

The company has added two new colorways, ivory and light gray, to the popular Marlowe Collection.  These loom knotted art silk pieces are so incredibly plush, they beg for bare feet.  Each of these rugs work effortlessly into a variety of decors.

Visit Feizy Rugs on Friday, Oct. 12 between 12:00 and 5:00 pm for early access to the Feizy Trends Collection.  This limited offering has been hand selected and assembled to represent the most stylish and sought-after designs of today.  Come early for the best selection.

Feizy Rugs will also be offering customers some valuable market incentives for orders written during the show and ART Cardholders will receive discounts on qualifying orders.  For more details, visit with a Feizy Rugs representative or call (800) 779-0877 x281.
