Kalaty Introduces Wide-Ranging New Rug Collections, Debuts Two Catalogs at Winter 2017 Markets

HICKSVILLE, NY – At the coming 2017 winter markets in Atlanta and Las Vegas, Kalaty Rug Corporation will introduce more than 10 new high-end handcrafted area rug collections as well as debut two impressive catalogs: a 440-page full-line catalog, plus a stylish stand-alone catalog for the licensed Natori Collection.

The new comprehensive Kalaty catalog showcases the company’s wide-ranging hand-knotted rug collections of classic traditional, transitional and clean-lined modern rugs. The Natori Collection catalog displays the three dynamic rug series comprising Kalaty’s licensed rug collection with renowned fashion and textile designer Josie Natori. Lhasa, the newest Natori rug series, features Josie Natori’s East-Meets-West design aesthetic through seven abstract designs making their debut at winter 2017 markets.

“We are extremely proud of these new catalogs, which represent a more contemporary attitude than past catalogs. They reflect our new brand image which is visible in everything from our newly remodeled website to our product designs as well as our overall corporate direction,” says company spokesman Ariel Kalaty. “A 440-page comprehensive catalog was an ambitious undertaking, but we feel confident that our dealers and interior designers will find it to be another of the useful tools we offer our customers. For the Natori catalog, we worked closely with the Natori company to ensure that this catalog remains faithful to their brand’s exacting graphic standards. This is yet another marketing piece we are pleased to share with our customers. We continue to be honored by our association with such a venerable, high-fashion brand as Natori.”

Each season Kalaty goes to great lengths to add relevant new styles in a range of constructions, textures and patterns to its broad line of heirloom-quality handcrafted rugs. Each of the company’s dynamic new introductions for winter 2017 markets represents the company’s ongoing commitment to remain at the forefront of trends in color, texture and design. The new collection introductions range from modern takes on traditional motifs to borderless transitional styles to dynamic abstract contemporary designs many of which feature meticulous hand-carving and unique textural effects.

“The demand for fresh contemporary and transitional designs at the high end continues to rise and has become a contributing factor in the number of modern styles we have introduced in recent years. We don’t anticipate that direction to slow any time soon,” says Ariel Kalaty. “We always look forward to these markets and our interactions with dealers and the designers in attendance. We anticipate their positive feedback with regard to our new products as well as our company’s direction,” Kalaty adds.

Among the new collections for winter 2017:

Elara Collection
Borderless modern inspirations with erased effects and high-low carving, the Elara collection makes a high-fashion tonal statement. Hand knotted in a Tibetan weave using a combination of premium wool and Silkette™ with a loop-and-pile weave, each rug is carefully hand carved for a three dimensional look and feel.

Reverie Collection
Featuring traditional-inspired designs in tonal colorations with today’s modern erased look, the Reverie collection is among our most luxurious collections. One of our finest hand-knotted weaves made with a combination of premium wool and Silkette™, Reverie rugs are in a class of their own!

Titania Collection
Titania is a unique flat & pile weave with a distinctive twist. Hand woven using a combination of premium wool and Silkette™ in a Lori-Loom™ weave, this collection of modern and transitional looks features tonal colorations with unique textural pile motifs that impart a stylish, graphic high-low appearance.

Palma Collection
The transitional designs in the Palma collection display a particularly soft look and feel. Hand knotted in a Turkish-style weave using 100% premium hand-spun wool, each rug receives a low shear and a special luster wash.

Soumak Basic Collection
Clean-lined and simply charming! Each single-color reversible rug in the Soumak Basic collection is handcrafted in a flat soumak double-sided weave using100% premium wool that provides attractive abrash heathered effects due to the lighter/darker striations in the yarn.

Lhasa Series (NEW to the Natori Collection)
Inspired by her own abstract prints, fashion industry icon Josie Natori showcases her East-meets-West design aesthetic by “bringing art into life” through the designs in the Lhasa series. Using a combination of premium wool and Silkette™ in subdued color palettes, each rug is hand knotted in a Tibetan weave, then further highlighted with high-low carved textural effects.

TOH Top 100 new products of 2012. This Old House photo by Ted Morrison.

PORT WASHINGTON, NY – Safavieh’s Four Seasons indoor/outdoor rugs have been named by This Old House as one of the 100 best new home products of 2012.  The only area rug to win a place on the prestigious “TOH Top 100” list this year, Four Seasons is hand-hooked of solution-dyed polypropylene in a broad range of patterns that includes traditional Persian and Moroccan motifs and florals from English country to contemporary.

“The TOH Top 100 is the result of an exhaustive search for the most forward-thinking, relevant and necessary new home products out there. Through the winners, we saw several major trends emerge in homes, including bringing the outside in, simplified Do-It-Yourself, and getting high-end looks for less,” said Scott Omelianuk, Editor of This Old House.

“We're honored to be included in the TOH Top 100 list. And we are gratified that This Old House has recognized the great strides in quality and design in the outdoor living category we’ve taken with Four Seasons. This collection really does blend indoor and outdoor spaces.  It is innovative in so many ways, from patterns with neon colors, to multi-colored chintz designs – all unheard of in outdoor a year ago,” said Arash Yaraghi, Safavieh principal.

“Safavieh is one of the original companies that started the revolution of indoor/outdoor rugs and we are expanding our line continually with new weaves, including hand-made and machine-made qualities. We believe that the sector will continue to grow if we continue pushing the envelope with design and technology that develops fashionable products people perceive as attractive enough to go inside their homes, but with all the cleanability and easy care advantages of outdoor,” Yaraghi continued.

Four Seasons, a collection of 30 patterns introduced in July 2012 at the Atlanta Rug Market, is hand-hooked in China of enhanced polypropylene and retails at $320 for a 5x8 size.

The 2012 list marks the second annual “The TOH Top 100” and includes items for people who love houses new or old and are looking for the newest ways to fix them up. Winning products include an ice tray that won’t spill, wood decking that resists rot, and a [broadloom] carpet [by Mohawk] that stands up to an elephant. “I am confident that these products will impress our readers as much as they did the editors of the magazine and will raise the bar for the industry,” added Omelianuk.

A complete list of the “TOH Top 100” can be found at www.ThisOldHouse.com/top100  and on newsstands, beginning November 2.

and Soumak flat weave in metallic yarn.

HIGH POINT –Two Safavieh area rugs were selected by High Point Market Style Spotters as favorite products during the October 2012 home furnishings market, October 13-18.  Lisa Mende, principal of Lisa Mende Design chose an ikat rug from Safavieh’s sustainable hemp collection by Thom Filicia, and Janel Laban, executive editor of Apartment Therapy singled out a new Santa Fe rug introduced at Market.

“We are honored to have our designs validated by top home fashion trendsetters; this distinction is especially significant when you consider that of the 167 products selected by the Style Spotters this Market, only five were area rugs,” said Safavieh principal Arash Yaraghi.

“This promotion by High Point Market is wonderful exposure for exhibitors like Safavieh, and also for the area rug category as a catalyst for color and pattern trends.  As the Style Spotters program continues each season, we hope to see the percentage of rugs grow in proportion to their vital role in interior design,” Yaraghi explained.

Named a Style Spotter after winning the High Point Market's Olioboard contest this summer, Lisa Mende is known creating expressive interiors with stylish accessories.  A respected design blogger, Mende noted on her Pinterest board that she chose Thom Filicia's Nottingham rug for its trendsetting colors of red, blue, yellow and aqua. “This hand knotted beauty would be great most anywhere,” she said.

Of the Santa Fe rug, Janel Laban of Apartment Therapy said, “Brick red plush pile meets subtly metallic silver flat weave: Beautiful unique rug from Safavieh.”  The rug combines a Peshawar weave wool pile with a Soumak flat weave in metallic yarn.

Chosen for their ability to see ahead of the curve in home fashion trends, the nine interior designers and bloggers asked by the Market to walk the show capturing images of their favorite looks and on-trend products. The Style Spotters curated their choices on Pinterest, a website that lets users organize and share photos on virtual pin boards. Each photo posted lists the exhibitor’s name and showroom number.

The fall roster of Style Spotters also included:
• Traci Zeller, Traci Zeller’s Blog
• Gretchen Aubuchon, Fashion + Decor
• Lori Dennis, DesignCamp.com
• Julia Buckingham Edelmann, Material Girls
• Cassandra LaValle, Coco + Kelley
• Stacy Naquin, Stacy Naquin blog

ATLANTA, GA  —The nation’s single-largest collection of furniture and home furnishings product anchors 2013’s first global buying event January 9-16 (Temporaries: Jan. 11-15; Area Rug: Jan. 10-13) at AmericasMart® and the Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market® and the Atlanta International Area Rug Market® featuring the National Oriental Rug Show.

Encompassing 15 floors of permanent showrooms—and enhanced by a large and growing temporary home furnishings product mix—the HOME center at AmericasMart continues to inspire retailers and designers with an unmatched array of high-end, design-driven home furnishings, home accessories, fine linens and textiles, wall decor, lighting, holiday and floral decor and the world’s largest collection of area rugs.  With the most complete product collections, the HOME building is the preferred destination for retailers to discover all the product, all in one place.

New for January 2013, furniture and rug manufacturer Four Hands moves to a 12,000-square-foot showroom on Floor 4 as part of an evolution to create an integrated lifestyle HOME buying experience reflective of the way consumers shop and live.  As part of the same integration, Surya moves its collection of area rugs and distinctive home decor to Floor 11. Both moves enrich the overall collection in Building 1, reinforcing the position as the leading collection of the finest rug, furniture and accessories product from around the world.

January continues as a touchstone market for the Holiday & Floral/Home Decor center on Floors 16-20 of Building 1. These five floors are the top destination in the industry for manufacturers and designers to launch innovative ideas, fresh lines and new product for the year. The Artisan Showcase offers a platform for retailers to see the old-world handcraftsmanship intrinsic in valued holiday products.

Supporting the permanent HOME showrooms are 10 home categories in the Market Temporaries—several of which are housed in multiple floors of the HOME building (Floors 1, 2 and 7). These categories cover home furnishings and accessories to fine linens including HD Home, a juried collection of exclusive high-design home furnishings and decor showcased in spectacular vignette settings in the Center Hall of Floor 1.

The January Market will once again feature some of the industry’s most celebrated tastemakers and renowned designers. Nathan Turner, of Bravo’s “Million Dollar Decorators,” explores a traditional American style that involves little effort and produces high design. And interior design icon Stan Topol brings his signature style to Floor 14 of Building 1 with a custom room installation capturing the essence of his 2012 Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Decorators Show House room created in the landmark residence Knollwood, where his living room used furniture and accessories sourced from AmericasMart showrooms.

With a robust mix of soft goods, case goods, accessories, fine linens and area rugs, incorporated into an inclusive, unique collection, AmericasMart offers an experience that’s both individual and integrated unlike any other.
